Seniors Computer Group:

The management committee comprises the following -

  • Carol Schofield - President / Assistant Secretary
  • Don Fulton - Vice-President
  • Loyce Turner – Secretary
  • Bill Banister - Treasurer
  • Hazel Rossato- Assistant Treasurer
  • Robert Lesca - Co-ordinator

This group was established in 2005 and now boasts a membership of over fourty.
The aim of the Seniors’ Computer Group is:

  • to foster and encourage computer awareness and literacy among the senior members of the community
  • to facilitate computer training for its members and other senior members of the community (subject to available trainers, equipment and finances)
  • to encourage a peer group network to assist each other with computer use and problems.

Whilst many young people have grown up with information technology, research shows that senior persons (over forty years) are far less likely to have even basic computer skills or to be able to use the internet.

This was true of our seniors, who not many years ago did not know what a PC was and were terrified at the thought of pushing the start button. The first basic training courses were titled ‘Computers for the Totally Terrified’. The members of the group can be really proud of what they have achieved as they have embraced most of the accredited training we have offered.

A warm welcome awaits you at one of their meetings.
