Burdekin Suicide Prevention Project-Community Survey
The purpose of this survey is to improve our understanding of the Burdekin communities’ awareness and understanding of suicide and of the services available to support people impacted by, or at risk of suicide.
This should only take about 10-15 minutes to complete and is being conducted by Burdekin Community Association Inc. (BCA) on behalf of the Northern Queensland Primary health Network (NQPHN). Full information regarding the survey can be found on the opening page. We appreciate you taking the time to participate.

The BCA Burdekin Mental Health Foundation provides a vast range of information to both the community and partner organisations. We also provide education, support and advocacy.
The primary role of the Burdekin Mental Health Foundation is about raising community awareness, education and information; and ensuring that local people who need mental health support, can find the best and easiest path to getting the help they need.
There is a range of clinical and therapeutic services which are already in place across the public and private health sectors of our community.
Education
Education is centred on suicide prevention, mental health support and mental health wellbeing awareness.
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) courses
Evidence based MHFA courses teach Mental Health First Aid strategies to members of the public.
MHFA is the help provided to a person who is developing a mental health problem, or in a mental health related crises, until the appropriate professional treatment is received or the crisis resolves. For courses provided within the Burdekin region, please contact the centre for information.
A complete list of course dates and venues along with further relevant information can be found at www.mhfa.com.au
Support
It is the intention of this program to bring together the widest possible cross section of local health providers, mental health clients, families and community bodies. This cross section of local groups and individuals provides the framework for providing the necessary support to those who need it.
Advocacy
Our aim is to advocate on a local, state and federal platform to ensure that the issues and causes of mental health issues are addressed and that ongoing education and support is provided for in our community.
