As we progress through life being physically active; mentally and physically healthy; and having social well-being has many benefits. Benefits of being physically active and healthy assists in reducing the risk of illnesses and preventable diseases such as; type 2 diabetes, obesity, stroke and coronary heart disease. It is also important for people to be mentally healthy and socially active as it strengthens an individual’s capacity to maintain their independence, autonomy and general wellness. By participating in groups it is a great way to stay informed about health and community services.
It is hoped that through the range of activities, groups, information and support we provide to the wider community regardless of age, sex and profession that we are compassionate, responsive and accessible to individual and community needs and can enhance the mental health and social well-being of our community.
