The Burdekin Community Association Inc. is a fully independent, registered service provider, established in 1975. A wide and varied range of community services is provided by the BCA to the Burdekin Shire. We have evolved to become the major community organisation in the region. Many BCA initiatives are made possible by the generosity of our local service clubs, business houses, individuals and the Burdekin Shire Council. With the Council, the BCA shares a common goal: to make the Burdekin the best Australian rural community in which to live.

The Burdekin is an area with a future. As a community, we are committed to working together to shape that future so that it is the best it possibly can be. We envision the Burdekin as a healthy community where residents co-operate and care for each other, and the environment. Because of the pride residents have in their community, and observe careful use for our bountiful water supply, the Burdekin is an attractive, green community. It is also a place where our youth can find opportunities to work, and build fulfilling lives and successful careers. A growing number of diverse businesses and industries are choosing the Burdekin for its strategic location, skilled and educated workforce, and supportive community.

As a result of the establishment of a partnership with all levels of government, and commitment by a broad range of community members to participation and co-operation, the Burdekin Community Association provides leadership in the area of development and delivery of community care services for all residents.

As a result, the needs of the Burdekin’s aged, families, children and individuals who are suffering hardship and distress are being met.
The quality of life in the Burdekin continues to improve, making the area one of the best rural communities in Australia in which to live.
